Montgomery and his teammates are acutely aware of the mistakes made at the end of last season, where they conceded a total of ten sacks in their final two games. This experience has fueled their motivation to avoid a repeat performance.
"Adversity is a teacher, and we've taken those lessons to heart. We know where we need to improve, and we're committed to growing and evolving as a unit," Montgomery reflected.

The Buckeyes' offensive line boasts a wealth of experience, with four starters returning from last year's lineup. Montgomery, Siereveld, Carson Hinzman, and Daniels provide a solid foundation, and their decision to stay for another year is a testament to their dedication.
"Having this level of experience is invaluable. We know each other's strengths and weaknesses, and we're a tight-knit group. It's a privilege to have this level of continuity," Montgomery added.
A Season of Expectations
With eight starters returning on offense, including quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss, the Buckeyes are poised for a strong showing. Montgomery believes their collective experience will be a game-changer, especially after a disappointing finish last year.
"Experience is a game-changer. It's one thing to talk about big games, but when you've been there, it's a whole different ball game. Our young guys have grown and matured, and I'm excited to see what we can achieve as a unit," he said.

While the starting positions are largely set, with Montgomery and Hinzman locked in, the rest of the line is still up for grabs. Siereveld's position could shift, and Moore and VanSickle are in contention for starting roles. Montgomery believes the competition will drive the team forward.
"Summer workouts are crucial for building our fitness and cohesion. We need to be in peak condition when the season starts, and these months are about laying the foundation. We're excited to see how the lineup takes shape," he explained.

With 51 new players joining the team, the Buckeyes have undergone a significant transformation. However, Montgomery believes the team has gelled remarkably well, and the winter workouts and spring practices have played a pivotal role.
"We're light years ahead of where we were in January. I've formed strong bonds with the new guys, and I respect their experience and talent. The transfers, in particular, have brought a wealth of knowledge, and I'm excited to see what we can achieve as a unified force," he shared.
Emerging Leadership
As a senior, Montgomery is stepping into a leadership role, but he emphasizes that leadership knows no boundaries.
"I feel honored to lead this team, but we have multiple leaders emerging. Our motto this year is that anyone can lead, regardless of their age or experience. We need everyone to step up in critical moments, and I'm confident we have the talent and experience to make it happen," he said.
A Well-Deserved Break
Amidst the intense summer workouts, Montgomery took a well-earned break to attend the Memorial Tournament, where he participated in a football clinic alongside his teammates and the Golden Cubs, a group of inspiring young individuals battling serious illnesses.
"Events like the Memorial Tournament are a reminder of why we play the game. Seeing the pro players and the support from the community is humbling. It's a privilege to be part of such a special event, and it gives me even more motivation to perform at my best," he concluded.
